[Story by Rebekah Poling]
On October 28th the parking lot at the Richardson foster care office was transformed into a “Fall Festival” for the 100+ foster children the office serves. Families with LSS Foster In Texas (FIT) foster children were invited to bring their families for a night of fun and festivities.
The kids had pizza and joined in pumpkin painting, face painting, a “cookie walk,” and earned tickets at carnival games. They exchanged their tickets for treats and toys at a huge prize table. The favorite station was a Halloween costume area where the kids could look through 75 or so donated costumes, pick their favorite, and take them home. It was a blast!
There was music, great fellowship, and a chance for the kids to … just be kids. The FIT program goes beyond just providing care for kids – it’s about giving quality care along with creative and fun ways of supporting the families and children. We emphasize going above and beyond for our kids and families and blessing them however we can.
There were about 20 volunteers who helped run the event, and all the costs – including food, pumpkins, candy, and face paint – were made possible by donations. Stay tuned for more upcoming opportunities to get involved by volunteering and giving through our Thanksgiving and Christmas festivities!
